IPv6 was a huge top...Just got back from NANOG 46.. IPv6 was a huge topic there with reports of companies like Comcast and AT&T rolling it out. I believe Comcast actually has it in some areas, and I was able to establish a v6 connection at the conference (over wireless, no less!) and hit various sites like google and netflix. So it's coming..<br /><br />But you're right. There is no "killer app" out there. In fact, from what I learned there, there are some significant issues, not least of which is learning a whole new slew of tools for troubleshooting. Gone will be the days of looking at the ARP table.
